THE OLD GODS
Once, Vergoldetestadt's Pantheon was a snarling host of spider-queens, dusk-reapers, and storm-sowers.
Now they're but a sterile simulacrum of transcendence.
Where Raptoraem honors The Blessed Five — ancient deities of Flesh, Strength, Shadow, Threshold and Time — Solarium has scrubbed them down and sanctified them as smiling icons fit for tax ledgers. Where once they demanded blood, now they bless tariffs. Where once they spoke from the mouths of oracles, now they beam from stained-glass pulpits above civic halls.
Small wonder Solarium sees no difference between sanctum and sheepfold.
To the Synod, they are one and the same.
They call the Blessed Five pagan relics—too carnal, too chaotic, too unclean. Their tales crawl with filth and flame, with lovers who bleed for each other and gods who won’t stay on the page. The Synod insists such stories rot the moral marrow of Solarium… though they have yet to burn them all.
They did try, once.
On Bloody Sunday, when red-robed Keepers torched the Spidershrine and butchered the faithful at their looms, the city learned what holiness costs. In the aftermath, the Synod declared the color red sacred—the tears of the gods—and forbade its use by commoners. Only the Synod may wear it now.
Yet Raptoraem’s defiance endures.
Red color bleeds through murals and market stalls, in ribbons, in pamphlets, in scars.
No decree can scrub the red from Raptoraem’s veins.
The Blessed Five still whisper through gutters and grates, stitched into songs, graffitied across walls. Every prayer, every oath, every sin still carries their hue.
The Synod may own the dye, but the people own the blood.

Domain: Brotherhood, endurance, protection.
Aspect: Scarred guardian bearing wounds for his kin. Patron of miners, soldiers, and builders. His strength binds the weak together through blood and toil.
Worship: Broken tools, blood oaths, acts of defense. His disciples, the Unshaken, stand as Raptoraem’s volunteer militia.
Syncretized by Solarium as: Dominus Triumphalis, a sterile, granite idol of “victory” — stripped of scars, lust, and the battlefield itself.
✺ The Gilded — Lady of Burnished Dawn
Domain: Fortune, art, sensuality.
Aspect: A radiant muse who gifts pleasure and takes payment in equal measure. Patron of courtesans, gamblers, and dreamers.
Worship: Perfume, gold, song, and the first pour of drink “for the Lady’s lips.”
Syncretized by Solarium as: Perfectio Immortalis, the cold idol of perfection — beauty without desire, symmetry without soul.
⚘ The Gardener — Root-Keeper
Domain: Decay, renewal, rebirth.
Aspect: A lichened reaper with a spade of bone; feeds life through death. Patron of farmers, gravediggers, brewers.
Worship: Offerings of rot, marrow, and harvest blood. His followers, the Rootborne, tend gardens of bone and fungus.
Syncretized by Solarium as: Ignatus, the Unyielding Flame — purity through annihilation, burning rot instead of revering it.
☽ The Shadowed — Keeper of the Gate
Domain: Secrets, passage, liminality.
Aspect: Masked wanderer of thresholds; grants doors, not destinies. Patron of smugglers, exiles, and seekers.
Worship: Keys, coins, and crossroads; rites of crossing and chance.
Syncretized by Solarium as: Quietus, the Silent One — blindfolded and voiceless, preaching submission instead of freedom.
🕸 Spiderweaver — Mother of the Loom
Domain: Fate, time, inevitability.
Aspect: Eight-armed spinner of the Veil’s threads; every life a knot in her design. Patron of weavers, mothers, prophets.
Worship: Hair, needles, mirrors, and vows sewn into hems. Her Spinner’s Kin keep the Spidershrine alive through faith and threads.
Syncretized by Solarium as: Sol Invictor, the Sun Absolute — the straight-lined god of order who burns away her web and all who weave within.
